Jozani Forest: Home of the Red Colobus Monkeys Jozani Forest is a natural reserve located in the central-eastern part of Zanzibar Island. It is the largest remaining indigenous forest on the island and one of the few places in the world where you can see the rare and endangered Zanzibar Red Colobus Monkey. These primates are famous for their distinctive red fur and playful behavior. Visitors can take a guided tour of the forest and spot not only the red colobus but also other wildlife such as Sykes' monkeys, bush babies, and duikers. Jozani Forest is also a biodiversity hotspot, with over 50 species of butterflies, 40 species of birds, and 23 species of reptiles. Lunch at a nearby restaurant is fantastic. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon to unwind on the beach or go swimming in the water. And head back to your hotel and then take in a meal of regional specialties in the evening.
Departure in the early morning for a tour of a spice farm. Know about spices produced on the island, including cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and vanilla. Enjoy a traditional Swahili lunch that was prepared using just-picked spices. Return to Stone Town in the afternoon, and take your time exploring the area, the neighborhood markets and do souvenir shopping then Take a Stone Town coast-circling dhow sail after sunset. Before leaving the following day, return to your accommodation in the evening and take in a final meal of Zanzibari cuisine.
After breakfast, go to the Prison Island for a guided tour of the island and its famous giant tortoises. You can relax on the white sandy beaches and swim in the clear blue waters before returning to your hotel for dinner of local delicacies.
A popular day trip choice in Zanzibar that offers the opportunity to explore the magnificent marine life and experience the local culture is the Zanzibar Safari Blue Tour. Your Zanzibar hotel will be picked up at 8:00 AM and transferred to Fumba village. You will start sailing, diving, and exploring when you arrive in Fumba village at 9:00 AM and board the traditional dhow boat. At 9:30 AM, set sail for the Menai Bay Conservation Area and start your snorkeling adventure. Snorkeling gear will be provided.
At 11:00 AM, take a break from snorkeling and go swimming in the clear waters of the Indian Ocean. At 12:00 PM, sail to Kwale Island, where you'll enjoy a seafood barbeque lunch on a beautiful sandy beach. Vegetarian options are also available. At 1:30 PM, after lunch, you can take a stroll on the island, take a nap, or relax on the beach. Return to the dhow at 3:00 PM and sail to a natural lagoon. Here, you can swim in the shallow waters and observe starfish. At 4:00 PM, return by boat to Fumba village. At around 5:00 PM, take a taxi back to your hotel.
